Devolver Digital Direct Impressions

Storm

Honestly I'm a little hesitant to post this at all since usually Devolver just screws around without many actual "real releases" but just in case, we're going to watch it and post updates!

  • Starting right off with Shadow Warrior III's "Gameplay Trailer 2"

  • And a recap of the last few CRAZY shows in the style of a movie trailer...

  • Oh boy... I don't know how to describe this... The business meeting from hell?

  • Oh no they're going for loot boxes and monetization... games as a service and rapping... Introducing Devolver Max Pass + (it's not real) (but the website is!)

  • HEIWA... TAN'NARU MABOROSHI NI SUGINU

  • Side-scrolling Edo-era platformer slasher? The Japanese is actually real LOL I can't tell if this is an actual game or a random fake trailer

  • It's real. TREK to YOMI coming 2022 to consoles and PC.

  • Phantom Abyss, a first person roguelite? like? dungeon-crawler. Ghosts of dead players go before you. Steam Early Access on June 22.

  • Advertising fake? merch?? At DevolverMaxPassPlus.com NO IT'S REAL The suit is 500 dollary-doos though

  • Song animated trailer for Wizard with a Gun, multiplayer isometric adventure game were you can create your land/areas and beat up monsters. Coming 2022 to Switch and PC.

  • Gameplay trailer for isometric adventure game with awesome music. Death's Door, coming to XBOX and PC on July 20th.

  • Ranting about indie games being indie if they have a publisher and people buying games only not to play them but to rant on online forums lol... (ouch)

  • Deckbuilder!?!? gameplay trailer that looks like 30% escape room, 50% Hand of Fate, 20% horror TRPG, called Inscryption and out 2021 by Daniel Mullins Games

  • Next trailer is about monetization! Woohoo!! (Parody about how terrible microtransactions are for the world) TumbleTime, a mobile game out this year!? (Is it real???)

  • Demon Throttle by Gato Roboto developers...only retail? Not digital? Wait they're making fun of scalpers lol. Wait is it actually out??

  • I tried to access the site, but it put me on a waiting list.

  • 2-player local co-op bullet hell? looks like something from the Famicom days but the music is good!

  • LOL they're now saying the solution is to just "sell the game" forever lol

  • And that's the end of the show!

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that they have announced several games they'll be publishing these next couple of years. Inscryption seems really cool. I just realized Daniel Mullins did Pony Island too! Pony Island is a great game.

By the way, I saw on the website that they also announced Terra Nil which is a "reverse city builder" but didn't get shown in the Direct. There are also links to the upcoming games published by Devolver Digital: Boomerang X, Card Shark, and the hotly anticipated Weird West.

Lastly, these are Devolver's games on sale for E3! Titan Quest is also free to keep but I already have it.

Went and looked at "Blightbound" which seems really good in Early Access and "Olija" which is now on my wishlist. I've played Carrion and Disc Room before which are both great -- but I would say Loop Hero is the game I would recommend the most despite not owning it. Or Observation, which is also scary af.

Out of the games I do own, Katana Zero is highly recommended and Enter the Gungeon.

Okay, that's all for Devolver's conference. See you tomorrow for XBOX and Square Enix!
